According to court documents, Hoskins, 58, was indicted on two counts of selling both hydrocodone and oxycodone. In his September arraignment Hoskins pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and his case was eventually tried by jury in March.
After deliberations the jury returned a verdict of guilty on each of the charges.
Hoskins was charged with two counts of first-degree drug trafficking and was sentenced to seven years in prison on one count and 10 years in prison on the second count.
Hoskins was also found guilty on two counts of second-degree drug trafficking and was sentenced to three years and five years in prison.
In unrelated court action, Thomas E. Smith, 35, of Middlesboro, was sentenced to five years in prison on a litany of charges stemming from a drunken-driving arrest in which he fled from police.
As part of a plea-agreement, Smith pleaded guilty to several charges, while the others were dismissed.
Those he pleaded guilty to include two counts of driving under the influence with aggravating circumstance, third-degree assault (for assaulting a Kentucky State Police Trooper), resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police, convicted felon having a handgun and wanton endangerment.
Charges dismissed against Smith include failure to illuminate head lamps, no insurance, failure to wear a seat belt, driving too fast for traffic conditions, criminal mischief, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and being a persistent felony offender.
Smith could have served as much as 20 years in prison, but pursuant to the plea agreement, each sentence were set to run concurrently for a total of five years.
Also in unrelated action, the court sentenced Cindy K. Asher, 33, of Middlesboro, to three years in prison after she pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession of methamphetamine precursor.
