Claiborne High School star Aaron Jackson accepted a full academic scholarship and the opportunity to play football for the Maryville College "Fighting Scots" on Tuesday, 19 April 2005. Maryville College doesn't offer football scholarships per se, but looks for "well-rounded students with both academic and sports abilities."

Maryville College is a private, four year, co-educational liberal arts college. Maryville has consistently ranked as one of the ten best colleges in the south by U.S. News and World Report. This year, Maryville College will enter into the USA South Conference and will be able to compete for a championship on an annual basis.

Aaron intends to study biology at Maryville College and is hoping to play tight end or as an outside linebacker.

After signing his letter of intent with Maryville, Aaron took the opportunity to thank his parents and Coach Barry Liles for their support over the years. "My parents and my coach consistently encouraged me to study hard, work hard, and never let up. I think that's pretty good advice for anybody. I plan on taking that advice with me to college." Aaron Jackson also thanked Maryville College for the opportunity to play for the "Fighting Scots."
