According to Katherine Reese, Chief Operating Officer for FSF, this latest gift to the College will fund five $1,000 scholarships for non-traditional/older students who are in need of financial assistance to attend SKCTC from Bell and Knox counties in Kentucky, Claiborne County in Tennessee, and from Lee County, Virginia. Interested students should contact the Office of Financial Aid at SKCTC for further details.
During the last major fund raising campaign for Southeast, FSF (formerly First State Bank) provided some $20,000 for the campus library in Middlesboro. And, during the 1990's, when Southeast first offered classes in Bell County, FSF provided classroom space at no cost to the College.
"The very generous support from FSF for Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College will enable many deserving non-traditional/older students a chance to complete college degrees which will allow them to change their lives and to give back to the Bell County area," said SKCTC President W. Bruce Ayers.
"First State Financial has been one of the College's biggest supporters; we are appreciative of their continued support." Ayers said.
