Tenn. man indicted on rape charge

JONESVILLE, Va. - A Tennessee man was indicted for rap and assault by a Lee County grand jury.

Edward E. Winstead, 33, of Russellville, Tenn. was indicted for the March 16 incident in which he allegedly held a Lee County woman captive in her home and physically restrained her from leaving. He also beat her repeatedly before sexually assaulting her.

The woman, whose name is being withheld, alleged that Winstead threatened her life, threatened to burn her home and destroy her property.

In an un-related case, Edwin Cull Cartron, 29, of Ewing was indicted on one count of abduction for an incident involving the abduction of his estranged wife in March.
