Pending approval by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), both universities' accrediting body, LMU intends to offer the following programs in Morristown: the Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Leadership Studies, the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, the Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, the Master of Education degree in Administration and Supervision and the Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision. The nursing program, as well as the management and leadership studies program, will be offered as degree completion programs. The partnership is likely to have a strong impact on both institutions, as well as many future students.
LMU President Nancy B. Moody said, "Lincoln Memorial University and Walters State Community College are partnering to offer academic opportunities to students from this region, allowing them to complete baccalaureate and graduate degrees that will make them more marketable in the work place. Upon approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, LMU plans to provide programs in nursing, education, and business. This is a wonderful opportunity for both institutions to meet their mission. It is also a wonderful opportunity for the community, particularly for non-traditional learners who cannot relocate to attend college."
