Jennifer Renee Salveson of Jacksboro, Tenn., has been named the first recipient of the Oscar Robertson Memorial Rotary Scholarship at Lincoln Memorial University. Salveson was recognized at the May 2 Rotary Club meeting in Middlesboro. Rotary scholarship committee member James Adams and President Nominee Brandon Gibbs presented the award.

The Oscar Robertson Rotary Scholarship will award at least one thousand dollars each year to a promising upper class undergraduate or graduate student in LMU's business program. It is named in honor of E. Oscar Robertson, a long-standing business leader in the tri-state community and a member of the Middlesboro Rotary Club for more than 30 years. he also attended LMU in the 1940's and served as a trustee of the University from 1974 until his death in 2004.

In an effort to raise more funds for the scholarship, the Middlesboro Rotary Club will present a jazz concert featuring Middlesboro native Christina Watson on Saturday, June 11. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. at the Middlesboro Country Club.
