David H. Pease, III, 46, of Cincinnati, Ohio was seriously injured when his Piper Saratoga plane crashed into a pickup truck and mobile home. Although no one in the mobile home was injured, the pilot was flown to UT Medical Center and is still in critical condition at last report.
The incident occurred on Sunday night around 10 p. m. at the New Tazewell Trailer Park. The FAA was contacted, and the plane was removed on Monday.
According to the New Tazewell Police, Pease was still in the Intensive Care unit as of Monday afternoon. He is believed to have been returning to Cincinnati, Ohio after taking his children to North Carolina for summer camp. It is not known at this time if he was experiencing mechanical problems with the engine, or simply low on fuel.
