The idea was to promote the dairy slogan of 3-a day. Research has shown that everyone needs at least three servings of dairy each and every day.
With the help of local radio personality, Bo Farmer the competition was quite the handful. Contestants were given the option of eating the ice cream with or without spoons. Each contestant was giving a large bowl with only three minutes to consume their portion of ice cream. The fastest one in each of the four age categories (ages 7 and under, ages 8-12, ages 13-17, and age 18 and up) were declared the winners.
First place winners received their choice of 2 Dollywood Splash country tickets or 2 Dollywood Theme Park Tickets. Other prizes were given to almost everyone that came out for the fun and free ice cream. Prizes included T-shirts, license plates, caps donated by the Southeast Dairy Organization and gift certificates from the Middlesboro Mall. The ice cream was donated by the Middlesboro Food City.
