Tazewell, TN - In response to a request by the Claiborne County Commission The Claiborne County Mayor's Office has released the following statement:

At the County Commission meeting on June 20, 2005, sixteen (16) of twenty-one (21) County Commissioners voted to request my resignation. I have met with the auditors from the State of Tennessee County Audit Services, and Claiborne County Attorney James D. Estep, III has also consulted with these auditors. At this time, we have not been provided with any information which warrants my resignation as County Mayor. I am still in office, and my staff and I will continue to serve the citizens of Claiborne County to the best of our ability.
