The Middlesboro 11- and 12-year-old Little League All-stars routed Pineville/Bell County 15-1 on Saturday to complete an unblemished run in the Area 3 Tournament and advance to the upcoming district tourney without a loss.

Pineville/Bell fell into the losers' bracket with the defeat, and was eliminated from all-star play via a 13-3 loss to Williamsburg in the tournament finale Sunday.

Middlesboro took an early advantage over Pineville/Bell with the help of a first-inning error. Timmy Helton led off the game with an infield single. Cory Goodin singled two batters later and Helton scored as the ball was booted in the outfield.

Jon Evans reached on another error, but Pineville/Bell's Dalton Simpson pitched out of the jam with two straight strikeouts.

Pineville/Bell threatened in the first as Ricky Pletcher and James Brown led off with consecutive singles, but Chase Roark induced a pair of ground outs and notched a strikeout to escape unscathed.

Middlesboro opened the game up in the second with four consecutive base hits after Pineville/Bell had recorded two outs in the inning. Austin Baker drove in two runs with a single to right and Goodin followed with an RBI triple. Evans drove in Goodin with a single to right to give Middlesboro a 5-0 lead.

The lead blossomed to 12-0 in the third as Pineville/Bell committed four errors to augment four Middlesboro hits. Baker drove in two more runs with a triple and Evans added an RBI double. The final two runs scored as Thomas Daniels reached on an error.

Bell's only run came in the bottom of the third as Pletcher led off with a double and scored on Timmy Rorick's ground out.

Josh Wigfield led off the fourth with a double and Helton drove him in with the second of three consecutive Middlesboro doubles. Baker doubled in Helton and later scored on Cody Smith's double to cap the scoring.

For the game, Baker drove in five runs with a triple, double and a single. Goodin added a triple and two singles while Helton, Evans and Smith added a double and a single each. Wigfield doubled while Roark and Nick Capps each added a single.

Pletcher led Pineville/Bell with a double and a single. Brown and Jordan Hampton each singled.

Pineville/Bell's offense struggled again on Sunday as Williamsburg's Cody Perkins scattered five hits to pick up with win.

Williamsburg jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the game, but Pineville Bell had cut the lead to 3-2 after two before an eight-run Williamsburg third put the game out of reach.

Williamsburg's Dylan Abner roped a two-run home run over the left field fence in the fourth to cap the scoring.

Rorick led Pineville/Bell with a pair of singles. Hampton added a double while Brown and Matt Quillen each singled.
