PINEVILLE - A Pineville man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for first and third degree burglary.

Dewayne Courtney Zachery, 33, was sentenced in Bell County Circuit Court after he pleaded guilty to first degree burglary and third degree burglary.

Zachery's case stems from two separate incidents, one occurring on April 13 of last year when he broke in to the Dollar General store in Pineville. Nearly one year later, he was indicted for first degree burglary after he broke into the home of Jeff and Kimberly Helton on March 14 of this year.

Zachery's indictment alleges he caused physical injury to Mrs. Helton.

In a separate case, a Barbourville man was sentenced on theft charges.

John George Stephens, 29, was sentenced to serve five years in prison for theft by unlawful taking but will only actually serve 90 days in the Bell County Jail.

Stephens pleaded guilty to taking five aluminum fuel tanks from Dakota Enterprise in September of last year.

He will serve out the remaining five year sentence on supervised probation.

Billie Joe Settles, 25, of Middlesboro, was sentenced to serve three years in prison after he pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (Cocaine), first degree, first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia, second offense.
