HARROGATE, Tenn. - A program allowing home-schooled children in the tri-state area to interact with one another and get some physical education will begin it's second year this September. LMU Aquatic Coordinator Floyde Ann Gardner will continue to oversee the program that provides students with many different types of physical activities on the University campus.

Gardner has a wide range of activities planned for students this fall, including hiking, bicycling, tumbling, bowling, volleyball and martial arts. The class will also take a toured expedition through the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park's Gap Cave, better know as Cudjo's Cave.

In addition to fulfilling the physical education requirements for home-school students, Gardner says the program has many other benefits for students. Says Gardner, "The advantages of the program besides the exercise include being introduced to a variety of new activities and a time to interact with other kids."

The class will meet on Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m., beginning in September. Costs are $5 for one child. Siblings may attend for an additional $3 each. Students from kindergarten level through high school may participate, and parents are welcome to stay for each day's program.

In addition to the home-school physical education classes, Gardner offers swimming lessons and a variety of other aquatic exercise classes through the Mary S. Annan Natatorium.
