Ewing, Va. - Earl C. James, 64, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at his home in the Caylor community.

He was employed by Middlesboro Tanning Company in Middlesboro, for 27 years, and had been a resident of Lee County all of his life. He was of the Baptist faith, and he had many friends and family who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel James; son-in-law, Charlie Brantley; granddaughter, Jennifer D. Brantley; parents, John and Viola James; sisters, Nannette Taylor, Cloe Daniels; brother, Carl James; brother-in-law, Warren Hoskins; and two infant brothers and one infant sister.

Survivors include his three daughters, Nancy Brantley, Ewing, Linda G. (Rocky) Catron, Rose Hill. Va., and Earlene (Marcus) Green, Rose Hill; five grandchildren, Christina and Clayton Ayers, Joshua Brantley, Tracy and Jeffrey Michael, Raquel Catron, and Caitlyn M. Green, three great-grandchildren, Bradley Ayers, Jackson Ayers, and Hunter Ayers; one brother, Lester (Hester) James, Rose Hill; one sister, Lois Hoskins of South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Loretta James of Kansas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Edward and Delcie Millikan, Clarkston, Mich., and Tip and Charity Hensley of Middlesboro; brother-in-law, Charlie Taylor of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home, Rose Hill Chapel, with the Rev. Claude West officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, in the Susong Cemetery in Ewing.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home, Rose Hill, Va., which is in charge of arrangements.
