On Monday, Oct. 3rd, it was announced that the Cumberland Gap sewer treatment plant is now in compliance with state standards.
Jesse Thompson was commended for his his efforts on bringing the plant into compliance.
In the water and sewer report, Alderwoman Joan Webb reported that water loss for August was 27 percent, September was 30 perent, and October is currently 35 percent, making an average water loss of 33 percent.
In his capacity as fire chief, John Adams reported no responses for the fire department in the last month.
"Of course, that's a good thing." he said.
He also reported that they have been successfully working on the smoke detector project. They plan to "kick it up" and get more installed in the next week or so.
Town Attorney Robert Estep reported that the delinquent tax auction for the Odell house will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15th at 10:30 a.m. at the Claiborne County Courthouse.
Gary McGill reminded the board that with the new fiscal year beginning Oct. 3rd, the rural development format changes, as it does every year.
"We have a clean slate," he said.
On some minor notes before adjournment, it was mentioned that on South Cumberland Drive sliding is occurring again causing damage that will need to be looked at soon, which the mayor said he would take care of; paving plans are being made and underway before winter hits; a letter from OSHA was received on Monday in order to tell the city what needs to be done, which is the cleaning out of the maintenance building by Oct. 18th; the project is already under way; also, the next study session for the November agenda will be held on Nov. 1st at 6 p.m.
