A one-bank holding company, ”Claiborne Holding Company“ is the parent company of First Century Bank, a full-service financial institution with seven convenient locations in Claiborne, Hancock, Union and North Knox Counties. Other directors of the Claiborne Holding Company are Eleanor Yoakum (Chairman of the Board), Tom Mottern (President), Polly McCollough, Dr. Carroll Rose, and Danny Stone.
Barger also serves as the current president of First Century Bank and is a member of the First Century Bank's Board of Directors.

First Century Bank opened its doors for business in 1899 in Tazewell. First Century Bank began to expand into a system of banks within Claiborne County in the 1970s, and later opened an office in Sneedville (Hancock County) and an office in Maynardville (Union County) in the mid 1980's. The bank opened an office in North Knox County in 1998 and is now comprised of seven office locations.
Additionally, First Century Bank operates a comprehensive insurance division, Hamilton-Wallace Insurance, with an office location in Tazewell and in Knoxville.
Barger is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Baylor School in Chattanooga. A native of Claiborne County, Barger currently resides in the Halls community.
An active community leader, Barger serves as an advisory board member for the Halls/Powell Boys and Girls Club. Barger also serves on the board of directors for the Home Improvement Licensing Board Commission for the State of Tennessee, the Halls Business and Professional Association, the Powell Business and Professional Association, the Union County Chamber of Commerce, and Claiborne County Chamber of Commerce.
