On Thursday, Oct. 27th, the Cumberland Gap High School girls cross country team traveled to Daniel Boone High School in Gray to compete in the TSSAA Region I Cross Country meet. 41 runners competed in the race, and they represented nine different high schools from across East Tennessee.

The top 10 finishers in the race qualified for the state championship as individuals, and Brandie Combs accomplished this. The top three teams in the region qualified for the state championship, and Cumberland Gap finished third behind University School of Johnson City and Elizabeth High School.

Finishing for Cumberland Gap were as followed:

15. Ashley Thomas (22:23)

23. Amy Seal (24:29)

28. Whitney Vannoy (26:05)

The team will compete in the state tournament Saturday, Nov. 5th, at 10 a.m. at the Percy Warner Park Steeplechase cross country course in Nashville.
