While she scored her fhir share of the goals last season (17), it was Oliveira who received a great deal of the recognition by scoring LMU single-season record 27 last year.
This season, in light of the needs of the Lady Railsplitter starting lineup, LMU Head Coach Heijo D'Anna moved Oliveira to a different position in the starting lineup which in bun reduced the number of shot opportunities the All-GSC performer has been given. The move was necessary for the LMU women to maximize their offensive attack and Oliveira has graciously and unselfishly accepted the role.
The move from forward to midfield created an opportunity for Boujos to step up along with Lady Railsplitter newcomer Danieile Dos Santos (Campinas, Brazil) to assume the brunt of the scoring duties. As of the end of the regular season on Saturday, Boujos has compiled 21 goals, four of which came in last week's games against #19 ranked Tusculum College and conference foe Alabama-Huntsville.
For last week's effort, Tuesday afternoon the Gulf South Conference announced that Boujos had been named GSC Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 29th. The honor is the third time this year the sophomore has been recognized in such a manner and it comes less than a week away from the beginning of the GSC Women's Soccer Tournament in Pensacola, Fla.
While Boujos has been a big part of the LMU scoring attack, Dos Santos is the lady Railsplitters current leading scorer with 22 goals this year and Oliveira is still a dangerous threat to opponents, flashing from midfield to forward on different occasions.
All in all, the combination of all three is without question the most lethal offensive attack in Lady Railsplitter history and quite possibly the best one, two, three offensive attack in the country. The "team first" mentality of these three individuals combined with a group of other young ladies that know their individual roles on the squad has helped the LMU women achieve a 14-2-1 regular season mark and a #23 national ranking.
