A Bell County native and current pianist at First Methodist, Robbins is also a music education major at Eastern Kentucky University, and studies the piano with Dr. Richard A. Crosby.
His training began at the age of 12 with numerous teachers in the Middlesboro and surrounding areas. As he quickly progressed, Robbins was awarded several distinguished performance ratings from the Kentucky Music Educators Association and took fnjst prize at Union College's first annual talent competition. During his years in high school, he served as pianist lor the award winning all girls choir at Bell Count High School under the direction of Thomasa Risner.
Since his academic career at EKU, he has been involved with several university musical ensembles that include both instrumental and voice. He has also been an advocate for lycal music education, teaching several private lessons before advancing to the college level.
At Sunday's concert, he will be performing works by composers such as Haydn, Chopin, Gershwin, and Bartok.
Robbins will be joined by local violin and bluegrass performer Mearl Risner. Together they will conclude the evening with both sacred and secular seasonal music. Public is invited to attend the concert.
