Martial Arts instructor Hee Park presented Ridge Hunter Sams with the best student metal, his yellow belt and certificate.

Sams, 5, is the son of Marc and Amy Sams, of Middlesboro, and the grandson of Kenneth and JoAnn Sams, also of Middlesboro; and Troy and Kim Simpson, of London.

He was the youngest student to test for his next belt level; he was complemented by Master Park on his form, and self-defense skills in Tae Kwon Do.

Sams successfully performed kicks, punches, three self-defense techniques, and demonstrated the skill of breaking his first board.

Park offers classes in a variety of techniques, including Tae Kwon Do, Hap Ki Do, Kuk Sool Won, Kum Do, Kick Boxing, weapons, self-defense, and breathing techniques.

Yong in Martial Arts Academy is located at 1911 Cumberland Avenue. Parents and children of all ages are welcome to visit or participate.
