Chairman David Bishop called the New Tazewell Planning Commission meeting to order at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3rd to cover a short agenda. After review and unanimous approval of previous month's minutes, the commission approved a motion to add Casey Anders to the evening's agenda.
The first order of business was a site plan review for an addition to the Gose Greenhouse. Review of the plan indicated that several of the items required for plan approval were missing from the document. The property owner was asked to supply the missing data at the next meeting and the review was rescheduled for February.
The second business item on the agenda was a site plan review for a proposed business development (noted on previous documents as a Walgreens Drug Store) by the Ed Street Development company. As reported last month in the Claiborne Progress, the New Tazewell Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted against closing a section of the Old Jacksboro Road (the road closure had been requested by the development company) that passed through the proposed development. The developers did not show up for the review and the city manager reported to the planning commission that the developer had called and asked to be taken off the agenda.
The last item of business was a request by Casey Anders for guidance on subdivision of a piece of business property on Highway 33. Anders indicated that two buyers had expressed an interest in splitting the property. Members of the commission explained the city's subdivision procedures and requirements and added the request for review to the February business agenda.
