Five more arrested from Lee Co. drug sweep

JONESVILLE, Va. -The Lee County Sheriff's Department has nabbed five more individuals wanted for alleged drug dealing, bringing the total number to 33 following the department's county-wide round up from Friday.

On Jan. 13, the LCSD in cooperation with the Lee County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, the Southwest Virginia Drug Task Force, the Virginia State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and the Jonesville Police Department issued arrest warrants for 51 alleged drug dealers on a total of 92 counts of distribution charges. The arrest came after an eight-month investigation.

Arrested Friday evening were Brian Keith Johnson, 31, of Pennington Gap; two counts to distribute a schedule II or III narcotic and William Slayton, 19, of Pennington Gap; one count of breaking and entering, grand larceny and destroy property over $1,000 in value and three counts of conspiracy.

Arrested since that time were:

Linda Kaye Sarver, 26, of Pennington Gap; three counts of distribution of a schedule II narcotic.

Rodney Lee Middleton, 26, of Dryden, was arrested and charged with one count of distribution of a schedule II narcotic.

Jerry Ray Stapleton, 47, of Pennington Gap, was arrested Sunday on three counts of distributing a schedule II narcotic.

As of Tuesday, 18 suspects are still being sought after. Sheriff Gary Parsons said the search will continue until they are all apprehended.
