She was a native of Middlesboro.
Our wonderful hard working Mother and Grandmother left us to be with her Lord and Savior and beloved husband Levi T. Lee who preceded her in death Feb. 2, 1945.
She was born on May 11, 1910 in Rose Hill, Va., to her parents the late Lewis H. Dash and Maude Harris Dash. She is preceded in death by her sisters Nell Harris, Leonie Fowler, Bonnie Bishop and brothers John Dash, Andy Dash, and Paul Dash. She is survived by one sister, Mable Bishop.
In her family of five children, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jasper Lee, Doug Lee, Daughter-in-law Sylvia Carmony Lee, grandchild Kristi Maddle, Great grandchild Griffin Lee and grandson's wife Stephanie Cornelius.
She is survived by her son Gifford and Betty Lee, Frankfort, Ky.; her daughter Hallie Lee Cornelius and Herman, Whiting Indiana; her daughter Nellie Lee Maddle and Charles, Tullahoma, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, Richard Cornelius, Doug Cornelius, Nancy Cornelius, Michael Lee, Suzanne Lee, Nancy Lee Windley, Robert Lee, Daniel Lee, Karla Maddle-Smith, and Martin Maddle; 17 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones.
She spent most of her adult life in the coal mining community of Alva, Ky. She was 35 years when our father departed this life. With the Lords help, she devoted her life to her five children; Jasper, Gifford, Hallie, Doug, and Nellie. To provide for our family she did domestic work and kept borders in our home. Later she operated a boarding house until the mines closed. Since her family was grown, she moved to Middlesboro, where she worked as a cook at the Appalachian Regional Hospital until her retirement.
Mother will be remembered for her strong faith; her loving sprit, humorous life, and her sacrificial life style. Her departure is our great loss but Heaven's gain.
The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. William Boyd Bingham presiding. Music will be provided by Jimmy Jackson and Dickie Siler.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Alva Memorial Gardens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gifford Lee, Martin Maddle, Jonathan Smith, Robert Lee, Daniel Lee, Dave Windley, Doug Cornelius, Dick Cornelius, and Michael Lee.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, at the Creech Funeral Home.
