She was born August 14, 1912, the daughter of the late John and Mary Jane Smith Jackson. She was born in Bell County where they lived for a time before moving to Clay County. She met and married Matthew Saylor and they moved to Bell County where they spent the better part of the rest of their lives. She was a member of the Cow Fork Primitive Baptist Church, and she had worked at the Red Bird Hospital as a cook until she retired.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Saylor; her son, Ralph Saylor; granddaughters, Angela Saylor and Patty Hartsock; sister, Carrie Ledger; brothers, Woodson, Garret, Charlie and Foster Jackson; and half sisters and brother, Rowena Jackson, Rosie Jackson and Milton Jackson.
Left to mourn her passing are her sons, Denver Saylor and wife, Vivian of Kettle Island, Richard Saylor and wife, Iva Jean of Siler, daughters, Nellie Faye Slusher and husband, Gillis of Vine Grove, and Pauline Hartsock of Pelham, Ala.; grandchildren, Mitchel Saylor, Sharon Saylor, Leslie Brock, Diana Lynn Mills, Ricky Saylor, Susan Morgan, Larry Saylor, Terry Saylor, Vickie Bowling, Pamela Hibbs, David Saylor, Richard Lee Saylor, Eric Hartsock, Louise Reedy and Andrea Carter; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Eugene Jackson and wife, Felsie; special friend, Sandy Couch; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Elder Mickey Wilson officiating.
Burial wiill be in the Matthew Saylor Family Cemetery at Beverly. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family will receive friends after 7 p.m. Saturday and after 1 p.m. Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.
