Tazewell, Tenn. - Charles A. Greene, 78, passed away Feb. 12, 2006, atthe University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

Born Sept. 22, 1927, in Middlesboro, he was a son of the late James Frank and Lillie May Smith. A member and deacon at Victory Assembly Church, he worked and retired from General Foods in Indiana after 40 years of service. He was also a veteran of World War II. He enjoyed fishing and cooking for his family and friends at Cedar Grove Boat Dock.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, James Earnest and step-mother Nellie B. Greene.

Survivors include his wife, Hester N. Warner Greene of Tazewell; daughter, Lillie Faye (Dale) Guiney of Lafayette, Ind.; son, Charles F. Greene, Tazewell; sister, Jenny Ellen (Lee) Barnette, Lafayette, IInd.; six grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Gladys Gibson, Harrogate, Tenn., and Pauline Briles, New Albany, Ind.; step-grandson, Bobby (Joyce) Long; very special friend, Sam Robinette; and several neices, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Victory Assembly Church in New Tazewell with Pastor Mike Vandergriff and Pastor Ual Russell officiating. Music will be by Joe Huff.

Burial will be in the Harrogate Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers are Sam Robinette, Ezel Cox and grandsons.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Victory Assembly Church in New Tazewell.
