The Criminal Investigation Division of the Claiborne County Sheriffs Department conducted a beer sting at several businesses on Tuesday, Feb. 14th. Det. John McMurray said that a minor individual cooperated with them by attempting to purchase beer in approximately 12-14 locations. In seven of those locations, beer was sold to the minor.
Citations were issued to: Julia A. Bolden at Wendy's Lakeside Market; Montez M. Curtis at the Tunnel 2 Package Store; Michael T. Keck at Southern Outdoors; Heather N. Mustard at Catdaddy's; Mark A. Stone at Sharps Package Store; Peggy S. Stewart at Raceway; and Ann L. Chadwell at the New Tazewell Package Store.
The sale of alcohol to a minor is a Class A misdemeanor and is punishable by imprisonment up to 11 months and 29 days or a fine up to $2,500 or both.
