He was born Aug. 29, 1941, in Middlesboro, and was the son of the late Wiliie Rains and Ethel Sproles Raines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Eugene Rains, Arden Rains, Milton Rains, Boyd Rains, and Kenneth Rains; and a sister, Virginia Rains.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Rains, Cumberland Gap; aughters, Paula (Larry) Goodman, Middlesboro, and Wendy Rains (Phil Beaty), Cleveland, N.C.; four sons, Billy (Johnnie Sue) Rains, Arthur, Tenn., Gary Rains, Arthur, Tenn., Jamie (Sue) Rains, Harrogate, Tenn., and Christopher Rains, Cumberland Gap; four grandsons, Josh Turner, Duane Turner, Brandon Rains, and Trevor Keyes; five granddaughters, Nikki Rains, Monica Turner, Sarah Goodman, Courtney Shackleford, and Amber Maiden; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Lawson; two sisters, Peggy (Jim) Brock, Middlesboro, and Audrey (Darrell) Hughes, Clinton, Tenn.; and a host of other relatives and friends,
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Boyd Gray presiding. Music will be provided by Misti Collins.
Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery at Harrogate, Tenn. Pallbearers will be Phil Beaty, Duane Turner, Jerry Bean, Jason Bean, Dale Brock and Brandon Rains. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Turner, Shawn Estep, James Partin, and Randy Brock.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Creech Funeral Home, Middlesboro, which is in charge of all arrangements.
