Family altercations led to the arrest of two men in separate stabbing incidents in Bell County recently.

Anthony Hash, 45, of Middlesboro, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with second-degree assault after he allegedly stabbed his son-in-law, Carl Good, 42, in the arm during a domestic dispute.

According to Middlesboro Police Chief Jeff Sharpe, the dispute reportedly began between Hash and Good's wife, who was unidentified. Good allegedly attempted to intervene in the argument and was stabbed in the arm.

In an unrelated incident, Hershel Knuckles, 62, of Pineville, was arrested Sunday evening and charged with second-degree assault for allegedly cutting Chris North several times at his home.

According to the police report, Knuckles was at the home to “... see how his daughter was doing...,” when the two men got into an argument.

“Mr. Knuckles had pulled a knife and cut Mr. North three times on the ear once, on the side and once in the back,” stated the report.

Second-degree assault is a Class D felony which rates from one to five years in prison, if convicted.

Also, in an unrelated case, Middlesboro Police officers arrested a Claiborne County man on Wednesday after a traffic incident allegedly led to a fit of road rage and the discharge of a firearm in a public area.

According to Sharpe, Howard Stevens, 76, of Claiborne County, Tenn., was arrested and charged with one count of wanton endangerment after a traffic incident led him to confront another Tennessee man, James Lawson, 56, at the Shell station on U.S. 25E across from Burgar King.

Stevens confronted Lawson about the traffic incident and a struggle eventually ensued that led to Stevens firing a pistol into his own vehicle.

Sharpe said the investigation into the altercation was still open and that additional charges may be filed in the case.
