JONESVILLE, Va. - A Thursday drive in Lee County ended with one man facing drug and assault charges.

Dustin O. Ellison, 25, of Thorn Hill, Tenn., has been charged with assault and battery of a family member and possession of a controlled paraphernalia.

According to warrants, Ellison and a female family member (name not available) were driving to Tazewell when they began arguing over his drug habit. He allegedly shook a bottle of methadone pills in the woman's face. She then threw them out the window and when she refused to stop for Ellison, he allegedly tore the cover of the vehicle's console off and began beating her with it.

When he was arrested on the assault charge, officers found two hypodermic syringes in his possession. He was initially held under a $2,500 secured bond and will be arraigned in court today.
