Nickell was voted the 2005-2006 player of the year in Region I, District II play. He played 27 games where he accrued an average of 21.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Nickell hit an impressive 47 percent of his field goal attempts and converted 80.2 percent of his shots from the free throw line.
