ROSE HILL, Va. - A convicted murderer who completed his 15-year sentence in May of last year is back in trouble with the law, as he was arrested Saturday for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Jeffrey Noble Chadwell, 35, of Rose Hill is free under a $5,000 secured bond and is due to be arraigned in Lee County General District Court May 2.

A criminal complaint filed by the mother of the alleged victim states she recently found a pregnancy test kit in her daughter's bedroom. Reports indicate the girl denied any knowledge of the incident after the mother confronted the teen about the test.

However, the mother said the girl told her older sister that she had sex with Chadwell on April 14 and feared that she could be pregnant.

The mother obtained a warrant after learning of the confession to the sister.

Chadwell was convicted in November of 1990 for the January 1990 murder of Ewing businessman Paul Jones.

He is on parole for a charge of second-degree murder and his prior record includes two convictions for grand larceny, breaking and entering, and the murder charge. He was released from the Virginia State Penitentiary on May 3, 2005.
