Silvia Shan Mills, 25, was sentenced for two separate incidents, one being first degree robbery.
According to court documents, on or about July 23, 2005, Mills committed a theft at Middlesboro Wal-Mart and in the process, physically harmed two employees by striking them with her vehicle.
Mills also pleaded guilty to charges from a separate indictment which involved first -degree trafficking in a controlled substance (oxycodone), first offense, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (hydrocodone), first offense, and two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (marijuana) near a school (West End Primary).
In other court business, a Middlesboro man was sentenced to serve five years in prison after he was found guilty by a jury on three counts of trafficking charges.
Kirby Ray Lay, 47, appeared in court and pleading not guilty to the charges of second degree trafficking in a controlled substance (hydrocodone) and two counts of third degree trafficking in a controlled substance (alprazolam), first offense.
A jury was sworn to try the case and found him guilty on all charges. He will receive 180 days credit for time served in jail on these charges.
In an unrelated case, a Middlesboro woman was sentenced to serve five years in prison on several trafficking charges.
Freda Elizabeth Seigler, 55, was sentenced to serve five years in prison after she pleaded guilty to first degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine), first offense, second degree trafficking in a controlled substance (hydrocodone), first offense, third degree possession of a controlled substance (alprazolam), first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia, first offense.
Two others were formally sentenced in Bell County circuit court. They include:
Samuel R. Gardner, 33, of Hulen; sentenced to serve two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property (over $300).
According to court documents, Gardner received/retained/disposed of a P38 9mm pistol, a black leather p38 holster, and a 41 Blackhawk revolver, that had been stolen from William North, on or about Feb. 3 of 1998.
Annette F. Carter, 33, of Middlesboro; sentenced to serve five years in prison after she pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, fourth offense (with aggravating circumstances), and operating a motor vehicle while license is revoked or suspended for driving under the influence, first offense (with aggravating circumstances).
Carter's sentence was probated to 240 days of actual jail time and she will serve five years on supervised probation. She will receive 20 days credit for time served in jail on these charges.
