The March of Dimes 2006 Ambassador Child, Caleb Nunn, would like to thank everyone for all your heartfelt support. Our family team raised over $10,000 during the annual WalkAmerica fundraising event. It was on April 22nd at Claiborne High School.

The awards our family won were 1st Place-New Team, 1st Place-Top Team, 1st Place-Family Team, and 1st Place-T-shirt Contest. And in Middlesboro, Ky. Caleb's team won 1st Place-New Kid on the Block Award.

As a part of our reward for raising money, we were invited to join the March of Dimes Volunteer Appreciation Night on June 14th at the Smokies baseball game. Caleb threw out the first pitch of the night and we won an award for 1st Place-Family Team in East Tennessee.

On June 13th Caleb got to meet Bruce Pearl, the University of Tennessee Volunteers Men's Basketball Coach for a photo shoot. Caleb will later star in a TV commercial with the two of them advertising the Oct. 9th Bruce Pearl March of Dimes Golf Classic at Gettysvue Polo, Golf, and Country Club in Knoxville.

In February a segment was produced with Caleb featured on Live at Five on WBIR Channel 10.

Joe and Susan Nunn, Caleb's parents, deeply appreciate your support, whether you gave money, said a prayer, sent a card or made a phone call of encouragement. It was through this that made us strive even harder.

We will continue to raise money this year for the March of Dimes mission of "Saving Babies, together." We will gladly speak to your church or community organization to share Caleb's story of survival. I can discuss how he started his life from 16 ounces at birth, losing to 14.9 ounces. He then underwent heart, eye, and hernia surgery and was on life support the first 31/2 months of his life. He has been hospitalized with congestive heart failure and pulmonary hypertension twice and was on a ventilator over 30 days each time. The doctors told us numerous times that Caleb wasn't going to survive.

Now he's five years old and his eyes, heart, lungs, stomach, etc. are all perfect. He's been off of his oxygen and feeding tube for two years. All of your support and visits throughout Caleb's sickness and struggle to live has made him everyone's miracle. By sharing his story of survival, we can give hope to other parents through the mission of the March of Dimes. It is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. The mission is achieved through programs of research, education, community services and advocacy.

If anyone is interested in making a donation to the March of Dimes, you can call (423) 526-2987 or write at: 3434 Little Sycamore Road, Tazewell, TN 37879 or email jnunn@centurytel.net. Please make all checks payable to the March of Dimes.

Again, we thank each of you who chose to support the March of Dimes in honor of Caleb and his fight for life. God Bless You!!!
