Claiborne County EMS Director Barry Thomas said that he had been working on this project for several years and was pleased when the AEDs finally arrived. The nine AEDs are being issued to each of the county volunteer fire departments as well as the Claiborne County Rescue Squad. Thomas said the AEDs will permit the firefighters and rescue personnel to arrive on the scene and immediately apply the AED whenever needed; thus, helping to save lives.
Paramedic Doug Hensley from Claiborne EMS has been conducting CPR and AED training for each of the emergency departments and issuing the AED to the departments.
