PINEVILLE - Bond for a Pineville man who shot at Bell County Deputy Sheriffs and Kentucky State Police officers earlier this week has been set at $1 million.

Eddie W. Gray, 20, was wounded off U.S. Hwy. 25E at Cannon, after he allegedly robbed the BP Service Station on U.S. Hwy. 119 at Blackmont Monday evening. After a police pursuit, Gray first pointed his gun at himself and threatened to shoot. He then shot at a Bell County Deputy Sheriff and his K-9. The deputy returned the shot and wounded Gray who was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville.

Gray was released Thursday and was transported to the Bell County Jail. He appeared in Bell District Court Friday morning on a charge of criminal attempted murder of a police officer and criminal attempted murder of a service animal. He was placed under a $1 million bond.

Gray faces other charges related to the incident from Kentucky State Police.

In another incident that happened in 2005, Gray was indicted for armed robbery for allegedly robbing Creekside Market on Kentucky Highway 987 at Colmar. Gray failed to appear in court and a warrant was issued for his arrest. That warrant was served Friday.

Later Friday afternoon, Gray was taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Treatment Center in Lexington after his wounds reopened.
