Middlesboro Business and Professional Women's Club members welcomed their 2006 scholarship recipients at the June meeting/annual picnic. Heather Sharpe, a 2006 graduate of Middlesboro High School was the recipient of the Maude Bailey Scholarship, and Hannah Bowman, a 2006 graduate of Bell County High School was awarded the BPW scholarship named for her sister, Danielle Bowman. Each of the scholarships are valued at $1,000. The Maude Bailey scholarship, given in honor of longtime BPW member and educator Maude Bailey, is presented annually to a graduate of Middlesboro High School. The Danielle Bowman scholarship, established and presented for the first time this year to recognize Bowman's loyalty and dedication to BPW, will be awarded annually to a Bell County High School graduate.
