Charles David Smith Jr. "Charlie", age 42, of New Tazewell, was born October 1, 1963 and passed away August 15, 2006 at the University of Tennessee Hospital.

He was a member of Binghamtown Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sister: Janice Smith Enix; brother: Jerry Smith; grandfather: Melvin Asher; special cousin: Nancy Slusher.

He is survived by son and daughter: David and Leslie Smith; ex-wife: Connie Cope all of Athens; mother: Irene Smith; father: Charlie Smith both of Pineville; special cousins: Angie Goodin and Kenny Asher; special uncle and aunt: O'Dell and Patricia Asher; grandmothers: Sarah Asher and Lilly Grubs; nieces: Abby and Ashley Enix, Taylor Day; nephews: Connor Enix, Brandon Johnson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were Sunday, August 20 at 3 p.m. in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Boyd Bingham and Rev. Travis Wilder officiating. Songs by Thomas Jones, Theda Polly and Shirley Asher, Ford Brock, Kim Asher, Lisa and Della Asher. Burial in the Green Hills Cemetery.
