Claiborne County fugitive apprehended in Louisiana

Claiborne County fugitive Rodney Kirk Lyons was arrested in St. Bernard Parish, La. (just east of New Orleans) on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

Det. Rick Davis of the Claiborne County Sheriff's Department announced the arrest on Thursday, Aug. 31.

Lyons was apprehended by Deputy Mike Lyons (no relation) of the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office. He was arrested when police were called to question a man Lyons was with about stealing a tip from a server at a bar. Investigators discovered one of the men they were talking to was wanted in Tennessee and he was arrested on the spot.

Ironically, one the aliases allegedly used by the former fugitive was Michael Lyons.

Lyons is wanted in Claiborne County on one count of rape and eight counts of rape of a child. He had been on the run for two years and eight months. Lyons was on the Top 10 Most Wanted List of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. As of press time, Lyons was being detained in the St. Bernard Parish Prison and was awaiting extradition back to Tennessee. that he had placed the charges against Lyons.

Lyons was scheduled to be on Americas Most Wanted on Saturday, Sept. 2.
