He was born Oct. 9, 1916, at Kettle Island, and was the son of the late J.G. and Virgie Brock Gross
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dewey Gross and Jerry Gross; and a sister, Justine Sizemore.
A retired businessman, he was owner of the My Tucky Beauty Salon, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Lock Gross; a son, Rodney Gross of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Virginia Phillips of Corbin, Ky.; stepson, Charles David (Patt) King of Buffalo, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Greta Sue Adams of Middlesboro; grandson, Kenneth (Tracy) King of Charleston, S.C.; granddaughters, Katherine (Lee) Millard of Fort Worth Texas, and Megan King of Buffalo, N.Y.; two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Charles King of Charleston, S.C.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Alan and Susie Inman of Middlesboro.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Monday at Creech Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen Earle presiding.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Green Hills Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Creech Funeral Home, Middlesboro, which is in charge of arrangements.
