SHAWANEE - Ralph “Chicken” Hopper, 67, passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2006.

Born May 10, 1939, he was the son of the late Laudie and Thelma Gent Hopper. A former Claiborne County School Bus Driver, he was also a former Claiborne County deputy sheriff, and a local farmer. He had worked at the Little Tunnel Inn Package Store for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Hopper; sisters, Cozette Evans and Ruby Smith; brothers, Dorsie “Pete” Hopper and Ott Hopper.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Margaret Schooler, Shawanee, Tenn.; son, Darrel (Bonnie) Hopper, Speedwell, Tenn.; daughter, Tammy (L.E.) Wilder, Harrogate, Tenn.; mother of his children, Sue (Hopper) Britt; stepchildren, Rick (Karen) Schooler, Gibson Station, Va., Regina Hoskins, New Tazewell, Tenn., Wanda Mayes, Speedwell, Tenn., Randy (Sheila) Schooler, Shawanee, Tenn.; grandchildren, Blake and Beth Hopper, Misty (Johnny) Hensley, Brent, Jason, and Chastidy Wilder; step-grandchildren, Eric (Tarah) Rowland, Erica (Brandon) Campbell, Dustin (Megan) Hoskins, Jessica and Cyndi Mayes, Chris, Thomas, and Taylor Schooler, and Chad; step-great-grandchildren, Halle Rowland, Camden, Emma, Gabriel, Peyton and Riley Wilder; sister, Tina (Virgil) Morgan, Speedwell, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
