On Monday, Nov. 20, the Claiborne County Commission will discuss a rather lengthy agenda.
The commission will consider the appointment of Jerry Lynn Brooks and Glen Bowling to the Claiborne County Planning Commission as well voting on three additional members - Roger Poore, Bill DeBusk, and Randolph Scott. They will also consider the appointment of John Russell, Dr. Charles Thompkins, and Bill DeBusk to the Claiborne County Hospital Board as well as the reappointment of current board member Hollis Cole. Other appointments that the commission are scheduled to consider are Charles "Bud" Chadwell and Richard Jennings to the Claiborne County Industrial Board.
A discussion about the probation office at the county justice center is also scheduled.
Commissioner Barry Thomas is sponsoring three resolutions - a budget amendment for the reappraisal program, a budget amendment for the health department, and Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS) increase. The increase is from the state and applies to employees who retired in or before 1989.
Commissioner David Mundy is sponsoring two resolutions - one dealing with the 911 listing of Hershell Powers Lane and the other a second reading on adding Nana's Lane to the county road list.
Commissioner James McAnally is sponsoring the second reading of a resolution that will add a portion of Bear Creek Road to the county road list.
Commissioner Ken Clark is sponsoring a resolution regarding Title VI regulations, essentially reaffirming county compliance with the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Commissioner Jerry Brooks is sponsoring a pair of resolutions. Each deals with the transfer of funds. One seeks to transfer $12,000 from the undesignated drug fund balance to pay for motor vehicles for the Claiborne County Sheriff's Department. The other resolution seeks to transfer funds ($12,367.50) out of the office of circuit court clerk reserves into the circuit court clerk account to pay for data entry equipment and fees. By law, the circuit court clerk cannot transfer money out the reserve account without approval of the commission.
Commissioner Dennis Estes is sponsoring a resolution dealing with accepting bids for general repairs on the courthouse.
Commissioner Dean Neal is sponsoring a resolution for a budget amendment for the board of education.
