LONDON - An April sentencing date has been set for a Middlesboro man who pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in U.S. District Court this week.

Michael Hodson Jr., 42, of Middlesboro, pleaded guilty Monday before Judge Danny C. Reeves in London to child pornography charges after being indicted in October of last year.

During the guilty plea, Hodson acknowledged receiving multiple images of child pornography in December 2002 and possessing the images on his computer last February.

Amul R. Thapar, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Kentucky State Police John Jack Adams jointly made the announcement Tuesday after the guilty plea was entered.

Hodson's sentencing is set for 9 a.m. April 23 before Judge Reeves in London.

The investigation was conducted by Kentucky State Police's Electronic Crime Section. Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin May represented the federal government in the case.

Hodson was one of three Middlesboro men indicted as a result of Operation Harvest Moon, a multi-agency effort to round up suspects involved in online child sexual exploitation crimes and registered sex offenders deemed non-compliant with legal residency restrictions.

Others arrested included Jerry Lee Shackleford, 32, on charges of receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography, and Charles Michael Rochon, 39, on the same charges. Both are residents of Middlesboro.
