For the past two years BellSouth and BellSouth Employees have sponsored golf tournaments to raise funds for the Christopher Mark Thompson Scholarship Endowment at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKCTC).

The most recent tournament held at the Middlesboro Country Club in October of 2006 raised over $4,000 for the fund that provides scholarship help for students in technology from Bell and Harlan Counties.

Chris Thompson, son of Freeman and Alvena Thompson, was a graduate of SKCTC in Bell County, and was employed by BellSouth at the time of his death. The Christopher Mark Thompson Fund was started in his memory in 2003 by BellSouth.

“We are delighted to accept these very generous annual gifts,” said Dr. W. Bruce Ayers, SKCTC President. “ BellSouth and the family and friends of Chris Thompson have been diligent in their efforts to continue to fund this scholarship endowment in memory of such a fine young man.”
