Middlesboro - Martha J. Harrell Thomas, 79, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital.

She was born in Middlesboro on Sept. 3, 1927, the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Sadie Lou Snodgrass Harrell. She had worked for General Motors for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Mary Hoskins; and a brother, Leroy Harrell.

Survivors include her children, Daniel Thomas and Kathy Anderkin, both of Ohio; brothers, Clay Harrell Jr., Lewis Harrell and Steve Harrell; sisters, Cleo Gray and Della King and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be at 12 noon Tuesday at West Cumberland Avenue Baptist Church in Middlesboro with the Rev. William Thompson presiding.

William Hubert “Bill” Widner, 83

PINEVILLE - On Feb. 5 of 1924, Wiley Ballard Widner and Jeminie Engle Widner, of Wilton, Ky., welcomed the birth of their son, William Hubert Widner. Eighty-three (83) years later, on Feb. 25 of 2007, they are again united with his passing.

In 1937, he changed his place of residency to Bell County, where he resided until his death, Feb. 25, 2007.

Widner was a member of the Pineville Methodist Church, a 70 year member and advocate of the UMWA, and a World War II veteran. Inducted into the United States Army on May 4, 1943, he began his active duty on May 11, 1943. He served in the 818th Engineers Aviation
