Cat in the Hat, the famed Dr. Seuss character, turned 50 this year and younger patrons at the Middlesborough-Bell County Public Library celebrated the event as part of Read Across America Day on Friday. Pictured is Pat Stanley, director of Cooperative Christian Ministry and president of the Middlesboro Downtown Association, as she reads to the youngsters from one of Dr. Seuss's books. participants in the program also enjoyed playing games, crafts - and of course a 50th birthday cake for Cat in the Hat.
