She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She retired June 30, 2006 from the Claiborne County Board of Education after 38 years of service. She spent 6 years in the classroom, 18 years as assistant principal, 4 years as principal of Claiborne County High School, and 10 years as an educational supervisor in the county. She was preceded in death by her father: James H. Siler; infant brother: James Siler III; infant grandson: James Tyler Beeler; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Will A. and Mary R. Fugate; brother-in-law: Mike Anderson.
She is survived by her husband of 41 1/2 years: Chester Gibson of Tazewell; daughters: Kelli Gibson of Tazewell, Kristi and husband Kelly Beeler of Woodruff, Sc.; grandchildren: Emaleigh, Eryn and Lauryn Beeler of Woodruff, Sc.; mother: Lucille Siler of Lafollette; brothers: Chester and wife Mary Siler of Lafollette, Van and wife Neita Siler of Huffman, Tx.; sister: Brenda Anderson of Kingston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, March 12 at 11 a.m. in the Claiborne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Overholt officiating. Eulogy by Donna Thomas. Music provided by Rose Watkins and Barbara Hatfield. Burial in the Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Randy Jennings, Richard Jennings, Joe Overton, David Gibson, Bill Williams, Eugene Watkins, Rick Rowland, and Steve Bolinger. Honorary pallbearers: Claiborne County Board of Education and Employees of First Century Bank.
A memorial scholarship is being established in the memory of Linda Gibson for the continuing education of a Claiborne High School Senior Student. Contributions can be sent to First Century Bank, 1780 N. Broad St., Tazewell, TN 37879, and designated for the Linda Gibson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
