A popular talent will be the guest speaker at the annual Bell County Chamber of Commerce dinner.

Bob Farmer will speak at the dinner, which will be held Friday, April 20, at Pine Mountain State Resort Park. A reception will be held at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m.

Farmer is a popular speaker, humorist, and motivator, according to Nioma Lawson, director of the Bell Co. Chamber.

“His name and talent make it a natural partnership with North America's most respected publication and brand, the Farmers' Almanac,” she said. “Bob is a seasoned speaker and entertainer with a long history of satisfied listeners.”

While working as a Marketing Director for a bank in the late 70's, he bought Farmers' Almanacs to give to the banks' customers. The editor of the Almanac, Ray Geiger, worked together with Bob to promote the Almanac and they became fast friends. Thus began a long relationship that today has "Farmer Bob" traveling the nation on behalf of the famous book, Lawson said.

“Like the Almanac, Bob's talks are laced with anecdotes, remedies and a liberal dose of humor too,” Lawson added. “Bob considers it an honor to share the facts, fun, and folklore of the Farmers' Almanac with his audiences.”

Farmer is a member of The International Society of Storytellers and was sponsored by Zig Ziglar in joining the prestigious National Speakers Association more than 25 years ago.

Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased from any Chamber Board Member or picked up at the Chamber Office.

“We urge everyone to make plans to attend,” Lawson stated.
