“We got together Wednesday and didn't practice, we just had a long heart-to-heart,” coach Aaron Sowders said. “And the team rededicated itself to doing the little things that have caused us to lose games.”
The win was a total team effort as the Jackets got production all through their lineup as they pounded out 16 hits in the game.
Brett Pittman went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored and Andrew Breeding homered and walked twice as he scored three times and knocked in two.
Casey Earls and Tyler Hatmaker both had two hits, including doubles while Jake Partin and Lance Brooks also had two hits each.
Middlesboro got also got a big boost from senior Michael “Skip” Frady who returned to mound for the first time in two years.
The right-hander had been nursing a sore shoulder early in the season, but looked sharp in the start. Frady struck out four as he faced the minimum over three shutout innings. He walked one, but induced a 5-4-3 double play to end the second inning.
“Just having Skip be able to go out there gives us a lift,” Sowders said. “He looked strong and is going to give us another quality arm to add to our rotation from here on out.”

Middlesboro (4-7) travels to Williamsburg on Monday and will visit Bell County Tuesday. The Bobcats (3-6) pulled out an 7-5 win over Corbin in eight innings Friday.
