Five Evarts errors opened the door for a 13-run third inning as visiting Middlesboro broke open a 1-1 game on the way to a 17-1 victory.

Casey Earls (pictured above getting a hit during Mondy’s win over South Laurel) and Chris Tolliver combined on a one-hitter in the four-inning game. Jamie Wynn singled for the Wildcats in the fourth inning.

The Wildcats pulled even in the bottom of the first as Dakota Taylor reached base on the first of three Middlesboro errors in the inning and scored on the third.

Twelve of the Jackets’ runs in the third inning were unearned.

Evarts (0-11) returns to action Friday at home against Lynn Camp.
