EWING, Va. — The Lee County Sheriff’s Department reports a Harrogate man was shot by his girlfriend while at her Ewing home. Sheriff Gary Parsons says Marty D. Eads of Harrogate was shot accidentally in the upper abdomen with a .22-caliber handgun early Tuesday morning. Parsons says Eads was shot by his girlfriend, Connie Littrell, while at her home in Ewing.
Eads was initially taken to the Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital in serious condition, and was later transferred to a Knoxville hospital. Once there he was listed in serious condition.
Investigators looking into the shooting said Thursday that Eads was in stable condition. Parsons says that both Eads and Littrell say the shooting was accidental. Police have not filed any charges.
