Dairy Queen erupted for nine runs in the fourth inning to pull away for a 13-1 win over Community Trust in championship game of the Middlesboro Little League tournament Monday.

D.J. Daniels went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, five RBI and two runs scored to lead the DQ offense. Mikel Wilson pitched all four innings and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out nine, walking one and hitting two batters to get the win.

Community Trust had dealt Dairy Queen their only loss during the regular season, and jumped on top with a run in the first inning Monday.

With two outs Anthony “Boo” Maiden and Jacob Rose singled, Tyler Yoakum drew a walk and Eric Francis was hit by a pitch to force in a run.

But a single by Rose in the third would be the only other hit CTB would get.

Parker Evans was hit by a pitch and John Millet reached on an error in the second.

Dairy Queen took the lead for good in the bottom of the first as Daniels and Wilson started things off with back-to-back singles. Chris Short and Brian Hale both walked and all four came around to score as they took a 4-1 lead.

The score remained 4-1 until DQ put the game away in the fourth inning. Daniels hit a two-run homer to start the scoring and then hit a bases-loaded triple to bring the ten-run rule into effect.

Wilson singled, doubled and walked in the game and the other Dairy Queen hits were by Hale, Aaron Redmond, Dalton Reynolds, Parker Uhl, and Brandon Hale.
